Following the WordPress rules all WP Cool Tools plugins are under GPLv2 which means, they are not limited in functionallity when you run them on WordPress. To get continus updates and upgrades as well as our support you have to have a valid license which comes with an annual fee.
The important point to note about this is that you don’t need to keep paying to simply use the plugin you have. If you buy a license and then never renew it you’ll be able to keep using the version you have forever (subject to compatibility with new versions of WordPress, of course).
If your license has expired you can log in to the licence manager to renew it. Please note, that you can not download the plugin you have bought if you do not have a valid license. We do not provide an archive of previous versions.
How does the upgrade work?
Simply put, when you buy a WP Cool Tools Pro plugin, you’ll get at one year of updates included for free. This will let you use any version of the plugins released up to the end of your license period.
When your license expires it will need to be renewed manually to be able to install and use later releases. We do not have an automatic renewal. You’ll be able to keep using the version you currently have forever, but you won’t be able to upgrade to new versions until you renew your license.
What happens if my subscription expires?
As above, if your subscription expires then the plugin will keep working but you won’t be able to upgrade to new versions. You can renew your license at any time, including after it’s expired.
- If you renew before expiry, the additional period is added to your current expiry date.
- If you renew after expiry, the additional period runs from the renewal date.
How much does renewal cost?
Your renewal price is shown on the license manage tab of our account after login.
If your license has expired, there’s a short grace period (14 days) within which you can renew for the best renewal price.
After that, the discount will be progressively smaller the longer the license has been expired. The renewal discount is:
- Not expired: 35%
- Expired less than 14 days: 35%
- Expired 15 to 30 days: 30%
- Expired 31 days to 6 months: 25%
- Expired 6 months or more: 20%
Do I have to renew if I re-install WordPress?
No you don’t. You can always reinstall the most recent version your previous license entitled you to, even you haven’t renewed it since.

Can I renew for more than one year? What about a lifetime subscription?
Currently you can renew your license up to one years in advance. We may offer a lifetime option in the future but currently do not.
